Workshop 1: Colourful Jars with Lids
13/11/2022 Sunday, 10:00-17:00 with a break for lunch which I will provide.
19/11/2022 Saturday, 10:00-13:00 painting our pieces before they get fired and glazed.
For organizing small things with a personal touch. A jar to store your jewellery, a jar to put cookies, chocolates or to present nuts or olives on a table.
There are many possibilities of different shapes and colours to design your own unique jar. I will show and explain step by step an easy way for beginners and also more advanced ways. On the first day we build and form the jars and the lids and on the following class we give our pieces a colourful coating with engobes which have to be put on before the first firing. After the firing I will glaze them with shiny or matt transparent glaze, whatever you decide for each of your pieces, and then fire them a second time.

Workshop 2: Sculpting the Human Body
20/11/2022 Sunday, 10:00-17:00 with a break for lunch which I will provide.
This workshop is devoted to sculpting. After a short study of proportions of the human body and some examples of different kinds of sculptures we shape and model our own figure. This is quite an open field from very realistic to completely abstract….
My intention is to help everyone finding an idea, a pose and a way to sculpt a figure that suits his/her abilities and tastes and to support putting it into practice.
The finished sculptures will be dried and fired and will get that typical terracotta colour of the fired clay.
Workshop 3: Plant Pots with Engobe & Scratching
27/11/2022 Sunday, 10:00-17:00 with a break for lunch which I will provide.
3/12/2022 Saturday, 10:00-13:00 painting and scratching the design.
A unique plant pot for your garden, terrace and indoor spaces.
We build round, oval or square pots by using the slab technique. I will show and explain this technique to you step by step. Having done the basic construction, we can put on feet and adjust the rim to give it some more character. On the second class we will paint a layer of engobe on the surface of the pots and scratch a design we like into it. Afterwards the pots get dried, fired, glazed with a transparent glaze and fired a second time.
Find some examples in the photo gallery here.
Workshop 4: Mobile
4/12/2022 Sunday, 10:00-17:00 with a break for lunch which I will provide.
14/12/2022 Wednesday, 17:00-20:00 painting and putting together the mobile.
We make mobiles or any kind of art decor you can hang from the ceiling, on a wall, in a tree or on your balcony.
On the first day we build decorative pieces of different shapes and sizes out of clay and after the drying and firing process we meet again to decorate the pieces with acrylic paints and assemble them with strings to create a mobile.
We can also combine them with pieces of different materials such as wooden sticks, beads, pendants, amulets or whatever you find suitable.
Here are some examples.
Workshop 5: Clay Meditation & Creating a Treasure Box
17/12/2022 Saturday, 9:30-13:30
This half day ceramic workshop is for anybody who likes to experience the beauty and magic of the natural material clay. If it’s your first time touching clay or not doesn’t matter – there is something in it for everyone.
The four hours consist of three parts:
- Experiencing the material clay in a playful way
- Clay Meditation
- Creating your own little unique Treasure Box
Your Treasure Box will be fired and glazed with a transparent glaze inside. It will stay in the terracotta colour of the fired clay with a whitish wash.
Workshop 6: Modelling Faces
18/12/2022 Sunday, 10:00-14:00
The subject of this workshop will be the human face. All levels are welcome. It is amazing how a lump of clay turns step by step into something almost alive….and it doesn’t matter how realistic nose, mouth, eyes are formed. They get their own life and expression anyway and turn into something very personal and unique.
We will use the local red clay and leave the fired pieces in terracotta colour.
Here you can see pieces from past Modelling Faces Workshops.
For all workshops:
- All the necessary materials (clay, coatings, glazes, acrylic paints and strings in different colours) as well as the firing and lunch are provided. For the Mobile Workshop you can also bring supplementary pieces of wooden sticks, beads, yarn, string etc.
- No previous knowledge in pottery is necessary.
- As soon as your objects are ready I will contact you so you can come and pick them up from my atelier.
