The Touching Clay program for June is out!
In three self-contained Ceramic Workshops you have the possibility to build plant pots in different ways with your own unique style and colourful jars with lids whose variety can be as vast as your phantasy.
1. Plant Pots with Engobe & Scratching
16/6/2024 Sunday, 10:00-16:00 with a break for lunch which I will provide.
22/6/2024 Saturday, 10:00-12:00 painting and scratching the design.
A unique plant pot for your garden, terrace and indoor spaces.

We build round, oval or square pots by using the slab technique. I will show and explain this technique to you step by step. Having done the basic construction, we can put on feet and adjust the rim to give it some more character. On the second class we will paint a layer of engobe on the surface of the pots and scratch a design we like into it. Afterwards the pots get dried, fired, glazed with a transparent glaze and fired a second time.

Find some examples of the finished pieces in the photo gallery here.
2. Colourful Jars with Lids
23/6/2024 Sunday, 10:00-17:00 with break for lunch which I will provide.
29/6/2024 Saturday, 10:00-13:00 painting our pieces before they get fired and glazed.

There are many possibilities of different shapes and colours to design your own unique jar. I will show and explain step by step an easy way for beginners and also more advanced ways. On Sunday we build and form the jars and the lids and on the following Saturday we give our pieces a colourful coating with engobes which have to be put on before the first firing. After the firing I will glaze them with shiny or matt transparent glaze, whatever you decided for each of your pieces, and then fire them a second time.

3. Plant Pots with Stamps
28/6/2024 Friday, 10:00-17:00 with a break for lunch which I will provide.
Before we put the parts (bottom, sides, feet etc.) together we make decorative imprints with stamps or whatever can be used as stamps such as flowers, leaves, textiles, buttons, pen lids, just anything you can think of.

These pots will stay in the terracotta colour of the fired clay and for a more contrasty effect I will treat them after the first firing either with a white or a dark colour (as you prefer) before firing them the second time with transparent glaze on the inside if you wish.
Here you find a variety of plant pots that we made in past workshops.

For all three workshops:
- All the necessary materials (clay, engobe, glaze, stamps…) as well as the firing and lunch are provided. For the Plant Pot with Stamps Workshop you can also bring supplementary stamps or things you want to use as stamps.
- No previous knowledge in pottery is necessary.
- As soon as your objects are ready I will contact you so you can come and pick them up from my atelier.
- For any questions or registration call me at 697 422 11 51 or email me at schnyder.barbara@gmail.com.
Have a happy and creative month of June!

February passed way too fast! I’m happy though that we got a lot out of the four Ceramic Workshops and the Pottery Class. It was again very inspiring and so much fun. Thanks to you all.
The series of workshops last November and December were a real treat to me. They let me finish the old year with a great feeling of satisfaction and gratitude. In the six independent workshops we worked with clay in many different ways – from simply playing and exploring the material, constructing and painting colourful jars with lids, sculpting the human body, scratching designs into white layers of engobe and modelling faces to finding the connection to our inner world through clay meditation. All together a vast spectrum of doing pottery. I tried to catch some moments with the camera. You can find the pictures in the
